CALMECA Dancers is a cultural group
CALMECA Dancers was founded in 2001 by Dr. Elizabeth Valencia-Godinez. The members of the dance group are Mexican, Canadian adults and teenagers.
CALMECA Dancers have chosen folk dances as a meaningful way of portraying a sample of the wealth, culture and the daily life that make up the wonderful traditions of Mexico.
The echo of tapping shoes shaking the wood and the swirling of the skirts talk about love, the end of a hard work day, or remembrances from the past.
The Calmeca dancers express the rhythms of Mexico with movements that aim to communicate one simple message: The Joy of Life.
Calmeca Dancers has dances from 17 regions of Mexico, and they are proud to share the Mexican culture with you.
